On May 31, the rector of the University of Barcelona (UB), Didac Ramirez, and the Vice Chancellor of the Palestinian University Al-Quds, Hanna Abdel Nour, signed a cooperation agreement in the framework of the Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE).
The support of the International Institute for Nonviolent Action (NOVACT) has been basic to assist the two institutions on working together on key issues such as human rights and culture of peace.
Thus, the agreement follows a line of work that, for example, has led to the beginning of an online International Degree in Nonviolence. This Certificate of Advanced Studies was presented during the AECHE and it is shaping up right now by NOVACT team to launch it later this year. It will be coordinated by Al-Quds university and the Palestinian Popular Struggle Committee.
This collaboration has also resulted, among other activities that were developed this year, in the completion of a Diploma in International Law and Popular Nonviolent Struggle, the first education program designed to support young leaders and Palestinian civil associations.
