Within a context of increased level of violence and repression in the West Bank, The Popular Struggle Coordination Committee (PSCC) has met for an iftar (Ramadan diner) with a group of diplomats and political delegates of the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Nabi Saleh.
In early August, the PSCC has met with a group of diplomats and political delegates of the European External Action Service with the purpose to look for new ways of support and collaboration between the different stakeholders involved in the struggle for freedom and justice in Palestine. Aimed to enhance coordination mechanisms and strengthen protection of Human Rights Defenders, the demands from the PSCC to the political delegates are:
- To recognize the PSCC as a Human Rights Defenders organization. (Please see this document explaining briefly why this would be a positive action towards the implementation of the EU Guidelines for Human Rights Defenders).
- To engage in trials and court hearings of Human Rights Defenders in Israeli Military Courts. For that purpose, the PSCC will send a calendar of hearings in which the presence of the political delegates might have a positive impact.
- To improve communications channels and establish more systematic methods of information sharing between the PSCC and the EEAS.
