Israeli Forces shot dead Mahmoud Assi, 24 years, during a raid in Bil’in yesterday. 3 people were arrested and another 5 injured, including a 2 months old baby
A large number of Israeli military vehicles had raided the area between Bil’in and Kafr Nima searching for 3 young Palestinians from the Islamic Jihad. Mahmoud Assi manage to scape and hided in a cave in the outskirts of Bil’in. The Israeli Forces opened fire and killed the young man after a shoot-out that lasted two hours.
According to Abdallah Abu Rahma, Head of the PSCC, the soldiers entered the village of Bil’in and declared closed military zone from the 4:00am to 10:00 am. Several checkpoints were set on the main road, and soldiers even banned children to go to the schools.
After the death of Mahmoud Assi, clashes erupted in Bil’in and Kafr Nima. The Israeli Army set fire to a number of agricultural fields and attacked the residents of the village with sound bombs, tear gas grenades and rubber coated bullets causing 5 injured. The soldiers arrested three people from Bil’in and four from Kafr Nimeh.
Several hours later, the Israeli Army returned the body of his son to Assi’s Family. The funeral will be tomorrow in the hometown of the martyr Mahmoud Assi in Beit Likia, in Ramallah Municipality.
