The next 11th, 12th and 13th April, Barcelona holds, in the historical building of the University of Barcelona (University Pl), the Catalan Social Forum (FSCat). A meeting space to learn and create synergies between different social movements and organizations from Catalonia. Social organizations working every day under the premise and the belief that another world is possible and it is already happening.
With more than 75 workshops enrolled in this edition, the FSCat aims to bring the fights of more than 110 entities to citizenship. The entities within the Forum are making, this year, a stronger meeting point, creating a real engine of new proposals for social change. “Following the editions of the years 2008, 2010 and 2012, the FSCat in 2014 aims to provide a space for reflection, encounter and confluence of citizenship and social movements, to propose another possible world to the capitalist model, that, day after day, with its capitalist and neoliberal policies, is plundering the resources of the peoples from the poorest countries”, it is say from the organization through the Manifesto they did a few weeks ago.
The conferences will open on Friday, April 11th, with the participation of Gabriela Serra, Ada Colau and Rita Marzoa, and the film screening of Basilio Martín Patino “Libre te quiero, about 15M.
In this new edition, they want to do an exercise of collective reflection on how we can achieve the defense of civil and social rights through nonviolent resistance and disobedience. For this reason, Saturday, April 12th, is reserved for training.
A full day of workshops divided into three areas: Disobedience and critical resistance; Building Sovereignties, building democracies; Alternative experiences. From NOVACT, we participate in the preparation of the workshop “Nonviolent Strategy: from the criminalization of social movements to mass civil resistance” to be held from 10h to 12h am in the classroom 4.3 from UB-Pl.Universitat. Moreover, we collaborate with the campaign No Més Complicitat amb Israel with a workshop about Hidden Business between Israel and Spain/Catalonia, “Security, Occupation and Repression as a business.
